WordPress How To: MyAdsense Plugin
Is adding Google AdSense to your WordPress site a good idea? That all depends on your site.
Informational archival type sites and Blogs are more conducive to displaying random ads than say a corporate site or or a site that offers professional services. Not that these type of sites cannot have advertising, it just should be handled a little differently than what AdSense serves up to be effective and productive and not detract from the main purpose of the site.
For example on my site, I only display ads for products that I’ve used and juried myself. These are companies I’ve worked with, know their products and support levels and have confidence in recommending them to you. With AdSense I don’t have that level of control.
Yes, with AdSense you can tweak the type of ads that display on your site as well as block competitor sites but you are still pretty much relegated to displaying ads that Google’s algorithm determines is a “match.” And that my friends can be subjective.
But with some of my other sites, I do in fact have AdSense displaying and the jury is out (at least for me) if the residual income received is worth the real estate given up to display these ads. I’m of the opinion that onliners have become increasingly ad-blind.
With that said, I frequent many sites that use AdSense and know several folks who claim to make a nice chunk of change each month. So you’ll have to run your own tests to see if it is worth the coin with your particular program to send folks off your site.
If you are toying around with the idea of including AdSense on your WordPress site or Blog, there is a nifty little plugin that can make your life a whole lot easier.
With this plugin you will be able to manage your ads formats from Google AdSense and to include them in your theme or in your posts.
Why not give it a whirl and let me know how it works out for you and your specific site?
At your service,
Judith
