Trust is not something you can launch with a Web site. Just as in the off-line world, trust is built with consistency and over time. You can’t “buy” trust; you have to earn it.

Search algorithms have trust factors. For example, Google determines trustworthiness of a site by the number and quality of sites that link to a particular site. Although this isn’t the end all be all, Google uses this as just one of many ways to try and determine trust.

Why trust? Because of the reasons stated above… You can buy it; you can’t install it. You have to earn it over time. That is also why domains registered for longer and that have been online longer are trusted more.

Same goes for Social Media and Networking — which you should be involved in and if you are not yet; get your butt in gear! From being involved on trusted sites, to being trusted by site visitors who can reflect their trust by virtue of their actions, once again it is clear that trust is gold online. Build trust and you build your reputation, exposure, business, network and even friends.

Here is a great article written by one of my fav writers by Jeff Quipp, that covers the trust issue in Social Networking:

4 Pillars of Social Media Algorithms … Trust x4

Then, when you are done reading the above article, read his next article that goes into the top trusted sites:

25 of Digg’s Most Trusted Sites

Between these two articles, you’ll have a good idea of why you need a Social Media plan and where to start implementing it. I’ve been doing this from the start — over 13 years now and I have to tell you that right now is one of the most exciting periods in the Webolution. If you have an static Web site — you are simply glorified brochureware. You need interactivity components where you can reach out to visitors and they can do the same to you — and I’m not talking a contact form.

The possibilities and opportunities are endless — right now — due to all the ways you can share information and interact with like minds! Time to get Social!

SOME PEOPLE RESEMBLE A CHEAP WATCH. THEY ARE NOT DEPENDABLE.

It would be unrealistic to expect an inexpensive, mass-produced watch to perform with the same degree of accuracy as a finely crafted Rolex. They are not made with the same quality of materials or with the same craftsmanship. Yet we somehow think that we do not need to give the same attention to our most important asset: ourselves. Don’t leave something as important as your character to chance. Choose the character traits you admire, and work to develop them. Don’t be discouraged when you stumble. Building character is a process that takes a lifetime to complete. Fortunately, like anything else, the more you work at character building, the better you become at it. ~ Napoleon Hill

The above applies to everything that has to do with your online program. Do you strive to be a Rolex or are you settling on being a cheap watch?

Are You a Time Whiner?

Posted by: Judith   in Marketing, Musings | Blog, Online Business, Rants

We all have only so much time in a day. How we choose to use it can make a huge difference in our business’ success. One of the most often heard excuses I get from clients or those who ask my advice about doing this or that is “I just don’t have the time…” Oh-oh — online is all about spending time — online.

Time is a commodity. I know all about it. I get in early in the morning, no breaks and a half-hour lunch. Before I know it the day is gone. Most times with a “To Do” list not completed. So, I work a couple extra hours (if necessary much longer than that) in the evening after dinner instead of watching some commercial laden T.V. show. And, I work most Saturday mornings (if the weather stinks, I’ll even work until 3-4p). You do what you have to do to reach your goals. You make the time.

If you think about it, how you spend your time is a matter of priorities. If something isn’t important enough, you’ll never have the time. Or you won’t spend the time required to get the desire results. With this interactive technology, why is it so many can’t find the time to actually interact?

Time is a funny thing — it never changes. 24 hours in every single day; 60 minutes to every hour; 60 seconds to every minute. What sets those who succeed online apart from all the wannabes is they actually spend time online!

Reading, learning, writing, experimenting, networking, Blogging, commenting — all things that demand your time if you want to have a healthy online enterprise. Find the time; make the time or it is probably best you get off-line and save yourself some time and money.

“You may delay, but time will not.”
