NEWS FLASH! WordPress isn’t Just for Blogs Any More
While WordPress has become more of a house-hold word recently, allot of Web site owners still don’t know what it is exactly and how they can use it to enhance their online program.
Most I talk to know about WordPress.com the free Blogging platform that is popular amongst hobby Bloggers and those just dabbling to see if Blogging is their thing. Even as recently as just a few years ago — WordPress was synonymous with Blogging.
Over six years ago, I moved this site over onto the WordPress platform. Not because I wanted to Blog, but because I needed an easier and more efficient way to handle the hundreds of pages on my site. I also knew there just had to be a better way, when I needed to do a minor site-wide change, than having to update each and every .html file within my site. WordPress to the rescue!
Around that same time some forwarding thinking ahead of their time premium WordPress theme developers, began stepping outside the box of “bloggy” WordPress theme creation and started creating classy, professional and intuitive themes for the sole purpose of using WordPress as a content management system (CMS). This allowed businesses to not only easily manage their own sites, but to painlessly integrate that new powerful business and marketing tool — a Blog — into their online presentation.
One of the Bloggers I enjoy reading most and have read for years, Michael Gray over at Graywolf’s SEO Blog put together a concise and extremely helpful list of how he Creates and Manages a WordPress site. Filled with tips, his unique methodology and plugin recommendations, this post covers for you what you need to know so that you too can know what is involved in creating a WordPress site. Good read and worth your time! So when are you moving your site to WordPress?
At your service,
Judith
