Google Database Dance

Google Database DanceMany folks do not realize that Google has a bunch-o-databases that display variances in search results. What results you see depend on which data center the results are drawing from at that moment in time. And there are other variables such as having a Google account and being signed in or not that can determine what results get served up to you.

For example, my sister who lives across the lake from me gets different search results for the very same terms typed the very same way on Google. This is due to our search patterns which Google does track. Google’s AI (artificial intelligence) is gathering data and making assumptions based on our use of the system. Here’s an article on Google and AI.

Then add the geographic databases and you can quickly understand why your rankings will differ depending on who is searching, what data center is being tapped and where they are located.

The tool below will allows you to see this process in action. Not that you have much control over these variances, but by knowing, you may be able to better plan and target your AdWords campaigns.
