Want Online Success? It is What it is…
“It is not the strongest of the species that survive nor the most intelligent, but those most adaptive to change.”
~ Charles Darwin
Those who do not experience online success tend to not be adaptive to change. Even the best WordPress site cannot compensate for inflexibility or resistance to change. I think the above quote brings home a point that a good portion of those who are currently online have failed to realize. Online, change is constant and consistent; many times even overwhelming to have to deal with. Believe me, I get that.
Online success is a challenge for each of us.
chal·lenge:
something that by its nature or character serves as a call to battle, contest, special effort
I’ve been told I make things look easy. Well, I’ve been doing this longer than most — over 16 years now — and I still am learning something new almost every single day. I know how difficult and frustrating technology can be — but guess what?
It is what it is!
Regardless, every day when I make serious recommendations that are outright ignored or replied to with a defensive reflex to justify lack of action. “I know that but…” There are no “buts”.
It is what it is.
What is stunning is how many are not on a quest for knowledge and have no desire to improve their skills.
knowl·edge:
the information and facts gained through education, time and experience
But these folks want the same results as those who accepted the challenge and embraced those very same issues they chose to disregard. You can’t have it both ways. Don’t adapt to change and you fail.
It is what it is.
Change is defined as becoming different or undergoing an alteration. With change comes more new knowledge, right? That definition alone is the mantra of every online success story you will find. Being different and flexible enough to alter your path when needed — and as often as required.
It is what it is.
I am frequently asked, by those who perceive I know it all (when in fact I am brutally aware of how much I don’t know), what frustrates me most. My frustration comes from those who hire me to assist with their WordPress sites who then proceed to disregard my recommendations because they “don’t like” what is being advised. To not read resources, FAQs, articles, the information provided, including my e-mails, because many times they “don’t have time”, “don’t think it is necessary for their program”, and even that “it is not convenient” for them.
Since when is success attained at ones convenience? Do we really expect success by osmosis? If what I recommend requires additional effort or having to think outside the box that one is safely hiding within — pay attention!
It is what it is.
Even with a WordPress site, you will not succeed without the proper knowledge and skills to use technology and work your program for your business’ ongoing viability. Technology and change and with that, knowledge, will keep evolving with or without you — with or without me! So hop on the train and keep up, because playing catch up can be a real b*&*%#!
It is what it is.
You can be strong; you can be intelligent. But only those that make an effort to go through the process of embracing and implementing the constant flux of change and knowledge acquisition that having a WordPress site (or any successful site for that matter) requires, are those who are truly smart.
