State of the Word 2011
Every year Matt Mullenweg, the founder and creator of WordPress, gives a presentation about where WordPress has been, where it is going, and what the online world is doing with WordPress.
This year’s presentation was particularly cool because it showed the organic power of WordPress to help business owners — like you and I — to use this great platform to beat the odds, better our lives and as corny as it sounds, to change the world. Being I’ve been using WordPress pretty much since it was born, it is always a blast to see the comparison of where we’ve been and how far we have come.
One of the reasons I have succeeded as an online consultant for 16 years is I’ve had the innate ability to know what paths to follow and which to forge on my own. When I started using WordPress, it was known by few and only recognized as a “We-Blog” platform. For me, I needed a better way to manage the hundreds of pages on my site. I tried WordPress it and it was an epiphany that changed Web development as I knew it and I never looked back.
Matt’s presentation is a little over a half hour and worth the time for this glimpse into one of the most powerful applications that, IMNSHO, has change the online world for the better.
