You Know Your WordPress Site has AIS When…
What’s “AIS”? American Idol Syndrome. In other words the ability to think you are good at something when clearly you are not. Usually because no one close to you has had the heart to tell you the truth (or they have and you chose to believe otherwise).
You think you are the best, talented, doing everything right, with the right look and moves to be Number One! But sadly, those who are looking at you shake their heads in complete confusion as to how you could think that because, well, your WordPress site sucks.
Does Your WordPress Site Have American Idol Syndrome?
- Your WordPress site has AIS if it has more ads than valuable content.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if your free theme has whacky affiliate links from the developer in the footer.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if the navigation is so discombobulated that you don’t know what is where without spending 20 minutes hunting and pecking.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if the design has no synergy to your topic.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if your topic is not niche or focused or even of interest to enough folks to make it work your time.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if you are not working on your writing skills and improving them constantly.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if do not have the necessary community features in place to encourage interaction.
- Your WordPress site has AIS if when given advice by pros who know, you think you know better and ignore said advice.
After watching American Idol the past two nights, non-talented wannabes are no longer of entertainment value to me. Actually it is downright sad.
I find this happening more and more online. Good folks, just like those on American Idol, who do not have a realistic view of their skills, talents or desire to learn enough to understand their limitations. Money and time is misspent and disappointment is all they are left with.
