Anticipate! WordPress Plugin
How would you like to have a way to work on your new site in the background while having a very cool front page (or pages) available to site visitors so you can build… anticipation?
The guys over at Elegant Themes had just what I was looking for (amazing how that happens) to allow me to do just that for my new pet project, WPVets.org.
Other “coming soon” themes are cool if you just want to have a placeholder until you get around to working on your site. I’ve reviewed one previously, WP Park-It! WordPress Premium Theme. I was using this while I worked on my site on my development server.
Now, however, with the Anticipate WordPress Plugin I can move the site to it’s new home and continue working on it without having to worry about migrating the site at a later date for launch. Being I am working on this site in my free time, one less thing to worry about is huge!
“Anticipate” is actually a maintenance mode plugin that allows you to serve your visitors an alternate “coming soon” page while you work on building your Web site in the background. Once activated, all of your visitors will be sent to the Anticipate landing page. When logged in as a WordPress Admin, however, your normal theme appears, allowing you to build your Web site seamlessly in the background. How cool is that!?
Features of the Anticipate Maintenance Mode Plugin include:
Intuitive Options Page
Anticipate comes with an easy to use options page that allows to you configure the plugins in minutes.
Progress Bar and Countdown
Comes with an animated countdown and progress bar, helping you to build hype about your upcoming release before its even ready!
E-mail Collection Form
The plugins includes an e-mail subscribe form that allows interested visitors to add their email address to an interest list. These emails are stored in the database, and can be exported from within the options page.
Social Networking Integration
Social networking icons are added to the coming soon page, allowing you to increase your online presence and gain a following before your Web site even launches.
jQuerySlider
The slider allows you to add a few short blurbs to the page to tell your visitors what you are all about. I used the slider to include a contact form for those who want to contribute to the project or have questions, as well as a page about the project so those who stop by get an idea of what the WPVets.org project is about.
If you are working on your own site or are a developer that wants to work on client’s sites on their servers in the background until your job is completed, this plugin is a must have!
At your service,
Judith
