“I want a WordPress Blog but I can’t write!”
“I can’t write.” “I don’t know how to write.” “I have no idea what to write about.”
Have you made those statements? This is what I hear from those I work with who contact me about setting up their WordPress Blog or who know they should be Blogging but are too intimidated to put themselves out there.
When I started this online journey over 15 years ago, I wasn’t a writer either. I really don’t consider myself a “writer” now. Yeah, I have a couple books and eBooks out there — but everything I write about I have to work at and to be honest it is still a ton of work to do it right; to make my stuff good.
Is it you can’t write or you don’t want to take the necessary time to do it properly? In my experience it tends to be the latter not the former.
Writing is a skill to be honed. It takes work to be good — to write good stuff. I still learn something new on a pretty regular basis. Both from my quest in learning to be a better writer, and by those who point out my mistakes — some in a kinder manner than others. But I don’t stop for fear of being corrected or because I am not a trained author. I have things to say, experience to share and darn it, I’m going to keep on plugging away at this keyboard as long as folks like you stop by and want to read what I have to share.
“I can’t write.”
Yes you can! You write e-mails, you write business letters, business proposals. You wrote papers in school. Just make a commitment to work at it!
“I don’t know how to write.”
We all have varying degrees of writing skills based on our education. But since when do we stop and not make the effort to learn? Especially when it comes to something so important to our online success? If you are serious about success — you don’t!
There are tons of sites and books to help you in your quest to become a better writer. There isn’t a single thing since the moment you were born that you didn’t have to learn how to do. Why stop now?
“I have no idea what to write about.”
Oh, yes you do! You know your product or service better than anyone else, don’t you? What questions do customers ask you most? Write about them! What issues do those who stop by your site e-mail you about? Write about those inquiries! What experience can you share about your profession that can help others with theirs? Write about it!
So are you pumped?! Sure you are! You can do this — you must do this — this is not something you are incapable of doing. You are smart, you are driven and you can write your Blog. Now, hop over to one of my favorite Blogs and read this article: How to Blog When You are Not a Writer. Then, get that WordPress Blog setup and start writing!

Judith

Hello there Judith, I typed in google this; i want to write a ebook but I can’t write propley. I came across your page and I was interested in what you had to say! I haven’t been a very good writer all my life, I can write (I am writing now). But I always thought I was a creative person, I love art and I draw and paint. I always thought I couldn’t do both, I couldn’t enjoy art and be a good writer at once, I can’t have both. But I can! I haven’t got any good grades in English either. The point is I suppose is that you’re right! I have always wanted to make a children’s with art and writing but I could never have the courage to do so because I was scared about my writing. I just like to say thank you for this Blog post, it was simple to read and it has gave me a good mood that I needed towards writing. Now I’m off to read; How to Blog When You are Not a Writer.
Thank you
Lee.
