Are You Living in an Online Cockaigne?

Those who follow my posts know when I run into a new and interesting word, I can’t help but use it as a springboard to make a point. I make my point and we both discover a new word together — it’s a win-win!

I talk to folks daily who are living in an online cockaigne. They prefer to live there and refuse to move — regardless of information reflecting that they should think about moving or indicators that their online cockaigne is not a place to plan for your future — they refuse to budge. Even if the neighborhood goes bad or they find that the money spent to live there is not building any equity, cockaigne is where they prefer to call Home Sweet Home.

And I understand why — the parks are filled with paths of least resistance where one’s desires are practically provided by osmosis.

O.K…. Here’s what it means:

Cockaigne \kah-KAYN\, noun:
An imaginary land of ease and luxury.

You know me — I’m all about reality — not imaginary when it comes to succeeding online. But all too often, even knowing this, some will complain of the lack of ease and quick money. That’s when I know where they live — in the land of Cockaigne!

There are times in everyone’s life where life hits you in the back of the head and you have to deal with life for what it is. Because you have no choice what life throws at you; it’s all about how you choose to deal with it that makes a difference is so many ways. Same applies to succeeding online. It’s fluid, ever changing and morphing — it is what it is.

Time to put that for sale sign out in front of your Cockaigne residence and start looking for new digs in Realityville.
