Happy New Year! Starting a new business? Want to take your current business to a new level? How about 10 New Year’s Web Site Resolutions to help get you there?

Everyone can improve and grow their site — that is if they are committed to their own success. “Me too” and generic business card Web sites simply no longer make the cut. So, let’s take you to the next level!

Keep in mind your site is speaking for you and your business. Your target market will be going to competitor’s sites and making comparisons.

  1. I will review my site’s server statistical data at least once each month to keep up on the activity and trends throughout my site. My stats are the heart of my Web site’s activity and to not utilize this valuable information to my advantage can affect the long term health of my enterprise.
  2. I will write at least one new page/article/white paper/tip sheet for my site every month (one each week is even better). I understand that by adding fresh in demand content to my site not only brings added value for my site visitors but assists with my overall organic search engine rankings.
  3. I will start a Blog to keep current customers updated and informed while also assisting potential clients with the information and a venue to ask questions that they need to do business with me.
  4. I will update my site’s visuals and functionality as needed to remain competitive and to offer a pleasant user-friendly experience for site visitors.
  5. I will renew my domain names for as long of a period as I can afford. Search engines are looking at domain longevity as another way to indicate a business’s long term commitment to their online presence.
  6. I will review my site content to ensure it speaks to my customer’s needs — not what I want to say or get across (I’ll put that on the “About Us” page). I will also review every page on a regular basis to make sure it contains current and updated information.
  7. I will respond to all inquiries in a prompt and professional manner reflecting all the basic staples of proper E-mail Etiquette.
  8. I will start a newsletter to keep my customers informed and updated on my business, products and services.
  9. I will create a marketing plan for my Web site that includes goals for organic search engine rankings, Pay Per Click and content syndication programs to ensure that my site can gain maximum network exposure.
  10. I will have my contact information (address, phone, fax), Terms of Service, Polices and Privacy statements obviously displayed on my site for site visitors review at all times.

There you have it! Your Ten New Years Web Site Resolutions to work on for the year ahead so that folks will choose to do business with you! Here’s to your abundant online success!
