Online: Quantity or Quality?
Online there is this misconception that more is always better. More times than not, more can be ineffective and have a negative impact on what you may be ultimately trying to accomplish. More can also be a big-time PIA! More to address, more communications to answer, more to update, more to pay attention to… all in less time.
In my experience, taking the “less is more” simpler approach has always allowed me to carefully determine what works best and work more efficiently. Which coincidentally always seems to be less than I had thought, intended — or desired.
As of late however it’s like there’s too much of everything! To many ads, too many experts, too many solutions, too many opinions, too many feeds, too many Tweets, too many comments…
When does quality outweigh quantity online? Off the top of my head…
- … when it comes to the comments you leave on other WordPress or social sites.
- … when it comes to the incoming one-way links to your WordPress business site.
- … when it comes to what search engines index.
- … when it comes to your WordPress Blog postings.
- … when it comes to your per page keyword targeting.
- … when it comes to your Meta title and keyword tags.
- … when it comes to length of pages.
- … when it comes to Web site inquiry form fields.
- … when it comes to the number of clicks to get to a desired point.
- … when it comes to the number of feeds I am subscribed to.
- … when it comes to ads on your WordPress business site.
“If I cannot overwhelm with my quality,
I will overwhelm with my quantity.”
~ Emile Zola
Of course this can all be subjective and include exceptions. Where do you see quality trumping quantity in the online world?
